Union Square
I can't think of anything better then a small pond within walking distance that is loaded with fish. I went to union square park to see if there were any fish. Was I ever surprised after a quick survey I threw on a lead head with a small white curly tailed grub and then the fun started. I was able to catch bluegill, crappie, sunfish, and small bass. I switched to a larger grub and was able to pull out some slightly larger large mouth bass. I tried for a couple carp that were trolling the shallows, but I didn't really have the bait to entice them. Within an hour I had caught and released at least 15 fish. I did receive alot of strange looks from passerby's most people don't think to look to the small ponds to catch fish. I didn't catch any to write home about but the fun in catching fish was worth it. If you are ever bored and have some time to spare I would recommend breaking out that spinningg rod throwing on a grub and chasing pan fish here. Remember to catch and release as most of these small ponds are not stocked and have very limited fish. A day spent fishing is a day worth living.
